The easiest way to destroy an enemy faction is to get a strong army in the Ambush stance in terrain with a high Ambush % chance and then bait the enemy into it with a weak/ partial army. There are ways to get a free research slot without waiting five turns, but those I also don’t remember off the top of my head. As Cao Cao I went down the branch enhancing income from farms, but I also ended up saving tons of cash by reducing upkeep cost for my generals and administrators and the like. You may want to spend a moment to plot out what paths to take. The research tree can be quite confusing. Ultimately I found sending spies to major factions often led to their defection, so I used the system much less. The spies are pretty fun to play with, and getting vision on your enemies’ movements is quite useful. There’s a bunch of ways to increase the number of slots, but I can’t remember them off the top of my head. Your generals want titles and offices, so to keep them happy and getting bonuses, assign them to offices. Other stuff that I don’t think is as crucial: I dunno, maybe I’m dumb, but I was struggling with why I didn’t have any artillery. Third, it took forever to figure out that certain generals recruit specific kinds of units and that abilities like flame arrows are unlocked in the general skill tree. I certainly took a slow and steady approach to expansion. Especially when trying to maintain good imperial favor as Cao Cao. I tried to be at war with only one of my neighbors at a time, and selling food for peace happened a lot. Food was an especially useful thing to barter with. Second, it took a while to figure out how useful the diplomacy system is. Green buildings enhance farm resources, for example. So I built major settlement building that increased my food production and income from settlements. I played Cao Cao, and he has a lot of farm buildings. The tip here is to build buildings in the major that vibe with the resource gathering settlements. The game has different systems at play that are not like WH.įirst of all, there’s settlement structure: a major settlement in each commandery and smaller resource gathering settlements. It definitely took 4 or so aborted campaigns before I got into 3K. Attila is the only other historical title I played before. I played 3K after playing a bunch of Warhammer for a long time.
